Is this really politically correct?
The New Oxford Dictionary of English (1998) defines "political correctness" in this way: "the avoidance of forms of expression or action that are perceived to exclude, marginalise or insult groups of people who are socially disadvantaged or discriminated against".
These are examples of Military Political Correctness (an oxymoron if I ever heard one)
collateral damage: destruction of civilian life and property.
pacification: destruction of villages after evacuating the inhabitants.
defoliation: destruction of forest cover.
friendly fire: the accidental killing of allies in an armed conflict.
I wonder how much military diplomacy is lost in translation?
