Say what you will about Al Gore but there is no denying his passion for the environment. He could have decided to call it quits when Bush took the presidency. Rather than licking his wounds, he chose to become an activist. A decidedly influental one. When I first heard about global warming, it made perfect sense to me. This isn't because as a Canadian, I haven't shovelled snow at Christmas time in many years. It is because I chose to inform myself of such matters. For the same reasons, you owe it to yourself to learn more.

My motivation is partly due to that I care about the home that I share with 6 billion other people. Not to mention the abundance of diverse wildlife that I never want to see disappear. My greatest motivation is my kids. I owe it to them to inform them of conservation and alternative energies. They know about conservation of energy and what it means for the future. The insidious nature of global warming is that when you look around it is difficult to comprehend. It is barely noticable like the first stages of cancer. Facts and figures on a page or test results from the lab are difficult to grasp until it hits you. We cannot afford to wait until we are hit because like cancer, global warming is easier to prevent that it is to cure.

I know it is an inconvenient truth to accept but accept it we must.
